The Geography Quest

Ten stops on one winding route — countries, capitals, rivers, peaks, islands, deserts, cities, volcanoes and lakes. Each stop gives you 25 seconds and one prompt: name the rarest place you know, and the route draws itself gold behind you as you sail it.

What is Krillion Geography?

Krillion geography is the map corner of the rarest-answer dive game: prompts that ask you to name places — countries, rivers, mountains, cities, islands, deserts — with 25 seconds each and rarity scoring. The rarer the place you name, the deeper you sink, up to 700 points and 7,000 metres.

Geography prompts appear inside Free Krillion's normal dives — Daily, Unlimited and Practice — mixed with every other category. This page is the geography guide: what the prompts ask, why the map is such a deep bench, and how to think your way to rare places. And it is playable: the Geography Dive above plays 10 random geography-only prompts in the main game's style, and the Geography Quest below sails you through 10 fixed stops on a winding map. Neither ever lists answers.

What geography prompts look like

Every geography prompt names a kind of place and, usually, a boundary. The kinds you will meet most:

  • Countries — by continent, by border, landlocked, or island nations
  • Capital cities — of a country, or of a state or province
  • Rivers — by continent, or flowing through a named region
  • Mountain ranges, volcanoes, deserts, lakes and waterfalls
  • Oceans, seas, gulfs and bays
  • Islands and island groups, including Greek islands and Caribbean islands
  • Cities — in a country, a state, or a region
  • National parks, anywhere in the world

Read the boundary before you answer. A prompt that says "in Europe" or "that borders" something has already narrowed the map — and the narrowing is the puzzle. The boundary tells you which shelf of your memory to search.

Why geography is a deep bench

Geography is the deepest bench in the game because the world is big. There are thousands of real rivers, ranges, islands and cities, and most divers only ever reach for the same handful. That gap — between what exists and what everyone names first — is where geography depth lives.

Compare that with a shallow prompt, where the whole answer space fits in a short list. On a geography prompt, the answer space is an ocean: the famous places sit on the surface, and everything below them is rare water waiting for a diver who knows the map beyond the headlines.

Geography strategy: think like the crowd, then step sideways

The core move is the same as everywhere in Krillion: acknowledge the famous answer, set it aside, and ask for the second place. On a geography prompt, the second place is usually smaller, more remote, or less talked about — and that is exactly why it scores.

Three habits pay off on the map. First, think past capitals-that-are-also-the-biggest-city: the seat of government is often not the place everyone names first. Second, use borders as ladders: a prompt about neighbours rewards knowing the small countries tucked between big ones. Third, respect the clock — 25 seconds is generous until it is not, and even a plankton answer banks 100 metres while a timeout banks nothing.

And remember the rule that makes all of this work: nothing is ever revealed. Free Krillion never shows answer lists, so every geography dive stays a mystery you navigate by instinct, not memorization.

Frequently asked questions

Is Krillion Geography free?

Yes. Geography prompts appear in Free Krillion's free dives — Daily, Unlimited and Practice — with no payment, no premium tier and no signup needed to play as a guest.

Is this the official Krillion geography pack?

No. Free Krillion is an independent game, not affiliated with the original game, and this page is its own geography guide. The original game sells its own themed packs separately.

Can I play geography-only dives?

Yes — this page has two geography-only ways to play: the Geography Dive at the top and the 10-stop Geography Quest, both free with no signup. Geography prompts also appear inside normal dives, mixed with every other category.

Do you reveal geography answers?

Never. Free Krillion never publishes answer lists, for geography or any other category. Your result shows how your own answer scored, and the rest stays a mystery — that secrecy is what keeps rarity alive.

What scores most in geography prompts?

Places few players think of first: small or remote places, lesser-known regions, and capitals that are not the largest city. The famous answer is almost always plankton — the second place you think of is where the depth lives.

Can I play Krillion Geography on a Chromebook or phone?

Yes. Free Krillion runs entirely in the browser — no download, no app, no install — so it works on Chromebooks, school laptops, phones and tablets.
